Location and Facilities

Southern Lakes English College  is situated in 5 acres of park-like grounds overlooking the Shotover River surrounded by mountains and spectacular scenery. We have 10 spacious classrooms, a large cafeteria/restaurant, audio/video room, outdoor recreation areas (volleyball, basketball, badminton), a mini-farm, Internet and email facilities and a school bus service.

Accommodation and Welfare

At SLEC we believe the student’s happiness is paramount. Our “family” atmosphere enables us to give personalised service in all aspects of the student’s life e.g. counselling, visa, travel, employment opportunities and accommodation.

Queenstown is a safe environment where we know all the homestay families personally. Most of our students stay with one of our homestay families initially and assistance is given with alternative accommodation (flats, hostels, for longer term students).
 

Extra Curricular Programme
Queenstown is the “Adventure Capital” of New Zealand and there are endless possibilities for outdoor activities including horse riding, hiking, biking, jet boating, skiing snowboarding etc. Queenstown is also a world-class resort with many restaurants, theatres and a vibrant nightlife. During the weekends groups of students are always meeting night and day to experience the wonderful environment that is unique to Queenstown.
