Course Details
The college aims to give each student a broad general
education in the first three years of her secondary
schooling as a sound base for specialisation later. The
course structure is constantly under review and balances
breadth of outlook with a strong academic focus.
All students are assessed at arrival at College and placed
in appropriate programmes. A full-time of up to one term
intensive English course may be provided for all students
who need more language skills before entering mainstream
courses. On-going ESOL classes and subject support are also
provided.
Location and Facilities
Nelson is located at the top of the South Island and is
close to both beach and mountains. The college is a five
minute drive from the airport and within easy walking
distance of the city. The College is situated in beautiful
park-like grounds. It has a wide range of up-to-date
facilities such as a gymnasium, new technology block,
computer suites, well equipped science laboratories and
music rooms with a wide range of instruments and keyboards.
Accommodation and Welfare
Students are met at the airport on arrival. Throughout the
college and the boarding houses there is a full guidance,
tutor and support network with regular meetings, tutorials
and individual counselling.
The boarding house has small
dormitory and cubicle accommodation. Students may choose to
live with a homestay family. This is organised by the
College.
Extra Curricular Programme
The College offers a wide range of summer and winter sports.
Cultural and music and performance opportunities are
extensive.
