Course Details
Mount Albert Grammar
is right up to date in possessing the internationally
recognised ISO9001 accreditation for the standards of its
education systems. The school emphasis is on academic
achievement within a caring and supportive environment, and
it provides 2000 students with an excellent foundation for
further studies.
Students are accepted from age 13 to 19 in Years 9 to 13 to
prepare them for tertiary education at University, Institute
of Technology or Polytechnics in New Zealand or overseas.
Students can enter a full range of subjects for all New
Zealand qualifications. Year 9 to 10 students may start at
any time through the year. The starting time for year 11 to
13 students (seniors) is at the beginning of term 1 only.
In 2000, Mount Albert Grammar School for Girls was
established onsite. Girls are taught in separate classes to
the boys in the junior school, coeducational classes in the
senior school.
The school has an outstanding sporting record; the boys’
soccer team won the NZ championship in 2003.
Location and Facilities
Situated in large and pleasant grounds in central
Auckland, the school is 20 minutes from the downtown city
and the airport. There are fine permanent buildings
including two computer centres, refurbished science
laboratories, two new heated indoor swimming pools and six
new astrograss tennis courts.
Accommodation and Welfare
The School Boarding hostel, Towers Hall, accommodates 100
boys from within New Zealand and overseas. Homestays are
arranged for holiday times. Long-term homestays are also
arranged at about NZ$205 per week.
International Students
Students from all over the world are warmly welcomed.
Currently there are 135 International Students enrolled.
ESOL support classes are available while students with very
little English are enrolled for at least 24 weeks of
intensive English language at the Kiwi English Academy in
Auckland.
