Course Details
At Garin College we insist on the best broad-based general
education possible for our students. Research shows that
Catholic schools gain success by insisting that students do
not take easy options. All Year 9 and Year 10 students
follow the same programme. Individualised programmes will be
developed to meet students personal and career needs as they
move into the senior school. ESOL is part of the programme
for international students. Our focus is on:

At Garin College, we see education as more than learning
facts; we see education as the whole experience of school

Location and Facilities
Garin College is located in the friendly town of Richmond,
10 minutes by car from Nelson airport and 15 minutes from
Nelson city. Everything in the school is new and of the
highest quality. Our facilities include 5 Science
Laboratories, a Technology Centre which will produce
students confident in the world of the 21st century, a
Performing Arts Centre and a Gymnasium with a rock climbing
wall, internal stadium seating and full size basketball
court. We also offer students an Internet café, an email
address and a Sacred Space in the library for quiet
reflection.
Accommodation and Welfare
Pastoral care is a key feature in a Catholic school for all
students. Garin College is a safe school with a family
atmosphere. Everyone knows each other and each student is
important. International students receive extra care from
our experienced international staff. Parents and agents are
given monthly reports on the welfare and progress of each
student. All students must stay in a homestay arranged by
Garin College. Students can consider boarding at our hostel
after one term with a homestay family.
Extra Curricular Programme
Club Garin Inc. is dedicated to meeting the extra curricular
needs of our students. A wide range of activities is offered
at the College including sporting, cultural and community
service opportunities.
